Calgary has been known as the Houston of the North and accounts for Canada’s main Oil and Gas Industry. It’s a growing city with currently just over 1 million inhabitants and has huge growth plans going forward. The vibe here is very young and energetic and there are lots of great outdoor activities with the Rockies right on your doorstep. The Calgary Stampede is undoubtedly Calgary's best-known visitor attraction. This event, featuring a large parade and world-class rodeo, draws more than a million people each year. It has a prairie-steppe type climate. This means it usually enjoys sunny weather, even in winter, and most of its little rainfall comes in the summer. One of the main benefits of living in Calgary is their tax system which is much lower taxes here than anywhere else in Canada and no provincial tax. This coupled with the rise in salaries makes it a good destination to base you.
